and Pupils alike
In addition to classrooms already completed, we are very proud of the wonderful upgrades to the Library and the Museum. It is now named the Charles Miller 1962 as the main supporter for this Project.
We are also very impressed with the upgrading effects made to the Arts and Music Centre, now known as the Paul Mortimer 1950 and Rhodes Scholar as the main contributor for this project.

We have now completed 13 classrooms including laboratories. The upgrading of classrooms completed might seem like just another project. Well, well to those reading this newsletter it is very meaningful to teachers that are teaching and pupils that are learning. We still have 14 to go. Our dream is to have ALL CLASSROOMS COMPLETED by early 2019.
To the Old Boys who have contributed in making this Project possible, THANK YOU for your generosity. To the Old Boys that have not taken part in this Project, we are coming to get you!!! As we don’t want you to miss the great pleasure of seeing a classroom with your class year or you as the donor. On the 24th July 2018, Tracy and I spent the day at school to welcome an Old Boy Mr. Ivor Altshuler 1958 and his family now living in Israel. His passion for the school was so intense that he wanted to share his school youth with his family, two daughters and three grandchildren. It was a joy meeting the Altshuler family.
Ivor was very knowledgeable and well informed about South Africa, Israel and other countries on Education facilities and conditions. He was very impressed with the school facilities and grounds. His family were stunned with the beautiful sports fields and open spaces for sport and recreation. They said these were not to be found in Israel and many other developed countries.
At the same time, we arranged to meet with Barco a professional photographer to take pics of the newly renovated classrooms as well as lovely pictures of Mr. Altshuler and his family. We are pleased to be able to share this day with all the Old Boys.
Adopt a Classroom Project
Old Boys and School Activities
The Adopt a Classroom project is making great progress as you will see from the pictures included in this letter. To date 13 classrooms have been completed, including difficult facilities such as the Science laboratories.
In this regard the class of 1972 supported two, normally very expensive special floors, for the Science laboratories. The old vinyl floors actually had potholes in them. Today they look beautiful with a special vinyl planking fitted by Mark Heyman an Old Boy.
You will also see the remarkable vibrant classrooms in the pictures we are included in this document. Certainly not old colonial but vibrant energy stimulating rooms of beauty for the pupils of today.
Science teacher – Mr. Swanepoel
We give thanks to – The couple behind the scenes AND their Team Ambrac Construction
Their amazing expertise and hard work – in all the renovations done to date, The Natie Kirsh Sports complex, Classroom renovations and much more.
To Geoff Peck and his team at Infinitude Design for their Vision, Drawings
And standards required and maintained.
As we are busy achieving facilities that energise Staff and pupils so will the Reunion Weekend for Old Boys. In some cases, they have not seen each other for many years, so have the chance of reviving memories of their days at College.
The following will provide information on how to make arrangements. It is also worth mentioning that over the last few years the Anniversary Class Years have gone “all out” to maximise the numbers of attendees. As a group, why not discuss our project “Adopt a Classroom” we would like to share with you our excitement of classrooms completed this far.

Woman’s Day 2018
It is still early and very dull and cold outside. My interest was to brighten the day up. You will have seen, in this Newsletter, upgraded classrooms, bright and beautiful, which must raise your spirits as it does for Teachers and Pupils at College.Today though I felt it was time we gave and paid tribute to Tracy in my office. For years now if Tracy is talking on the phone and there is laughter you can be sure she is talking to an Old Boy. Even though the discussion is important and serious Tracy also relaxes them and encourages them to tease or tell an amazing story about Old School mates. Just this week she had an Old Boy who strongly denied he had a brother and in any case he was the only one who mattered and she should concentrate on him. Tracy knew very well he had a brother but his blunt response and remarks had her in fits of laughter. A very simple example but one that can “lift the day”
Tracy became part of our little team about four years ago and whilst she had just lost her husband and had worked at Sasol Oil for 28 years in various departments. Tracy manages the finances for Inkazimulo-The Shining Light Trust, newsletters, leasing with the Old Boys, etc. She has a passion for College and enjoys interaction with the old Boys. Her daughter who works for a company, Google Partner, manages all the settings and designs for our attractive newsletter and other documents we use when talking to potential donors
With all of this in mind we would also honour and thank all the woman at College who not only provide an education and sometimes cry when “their boys” are struggling. Of course are filled with joy when they succeed. With all the problems of youths and men today in South Africa, College makes every effort not only to educate academically but to produce boys who understand morals and values and respect for their womenfolk
Please read on and enjoy College activities – your School.

Cricket at College
In August 2017 I received the following from Alex PaivaMorning Wally
Because our cricket is not what it used to be I applied to Cricket S A to become a focus school meaning that we have excellent facilities and a lot of talent that has to be channelled correctly.I was successful in my application and we were selected under the following conditions1) Cricket S A will pay for two full time coaches for the whole year – Value R100000.002) Cricket S A will pay the school and hostel fees of a talented player and the school fees for a talented player – Value R100000.00 for one year3) Cricket S A will also give us machines (grass), coaching equipment and other equipment to the value of R 100000.00
All this will be repeated each year as long as we fulfil certain requirements e.g. Certain amount of matches a year. Certain amount of coaching sessions. Certain amount of teams playing in school’s leagueCompleting of score cards on Cricket S. A. PROGRAMME Web Cricket so as to keep tabs on all player Statistics
I have said much about our beautiful sport fields and spaces. Today showing the best possible appearance due to the efficient mower we have obtained with the Cricket S. A. Focus School grant.

Alex has just advised me that a very Wealthy Trust managed by someone at the University has just advised him that they are anxious to support the School with a very elaborate Cricket Practice Academy. We have drawings for such an Academy and will ask Geoff to send all information and drawings already prepared by us. They might want to add to our proposed facility. We do not have any problem with that.
Alex also explained that College having far less pupils than Volkies, are not able to play both rugby and cricket in the winter season as Volkies can do. On the other hand, College as a Smaller School has always benefited from its elite status. It is apparent though that we are held in esteem as can be seen in all the support we are receiving. We are very well respected.
Our drawings for the Practice Academy will on the outside, contain all The Heritage features of the School.
To Old Boys who have shown,
in their generosity, their love for College
We have 14 classrooms to go!!!
With your assistance we can
